Tests & Diagnosis
What tests are used to diagnose menopause?
Menopause is primarily diagnosed based on age, symptoms, and menstrual history rather than a single test. However, your doctor may order blood tests to support the picture, including follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol, and thyroid function, since thyroid issues can mimic menopause symptoms.
These tests are especially useful when menopause is suspected earlier than usual, or when symptoms are unclear and need to be distinguished from other conditions.
